Question: What are Friends?
Just a silly question. But it could be deep. I'd like to hear your thoughts on "What are Friends", for you...

Post comment first, then read everybody else's. Including me own. :]

A friend is someone who you can talk to about real things. When they ask you how you're doing, they want an honest answer, instead of the generic "good" or "fine".

I saw a comment somewhere, and I don't know where it comes from... "Friends help you move. Real friends help you move bodies." ;)

Friends (as opposed to acquaintances)... are the people who see me pretty much as I am... good and not-quite-good... and accept me that way. They are the people i'm totally free to be exactly me around.

To me, a friend is someone I know well and genuinely like but most of all, a friend is someone I trust. I have countless acquaintences that I've gotten to know over the years, people whose wit and wisdom I have appreciated, but who I wouldn't trust to call if I needed help. So I suppose for me, trust is the great divider between friend and acquaintence.

A pretty good TV show? No, that's not what you meant.

Hmmm. Well, it's really one of those hard to define things I guess...but to me a friend is someone who loves you despite knowing you. Yep...everything else about me is a paradox, might as well require it of my friends too!

What I mean is...people are people, and every single person has their own list of little imperfections. The more you get to know someone, the more their imperfections become known to you as well. A friend either does not notice them, or notices but does not care. They don't just see the bad, they see the good.

Friends also don't keep score on minor little things. If two friends go to the movies and one pays for the tickets, the other paying for the snacks/soda, and one pays a dollar more than the other...neither one even notices the dollar. It's not about the dollar, it's about going to see a movie with a friend.

In terms of physical distance...friends can be close or friends can be far away. However, in terms of 'heart', friends are always close.
